Purdue University in Indianapolis Undergraduate Student, Computer Science

What are you are studying/what you are interested in studying and/or researching while at Purdue? If you have done internships or other applicable experiences, feel free to include them here.

I am studying Computer Science at Purdue and I am interested in data-driven research to address current technology challenges, or explore new emerging technologies. Particularly, I am interested in the aviation industry where I wish to apply data analysis and computational techniques. Last summer, I interned at EY as part of their technology consulting internship program, which allowed me to explore different service lines within the tech industry. I am returning this summer and I hope to learn more about the intersection of business and technologies, and see how new technologies are applied in real-world scenarios. Additionally, I participated in the ACCESS STEP 1 (2024) program funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation, where I spent two weeks in Miami to learn more about Cyberinfrastructure, research computing and High Performance Computing (HPC).

What made you want to join the Leading Women Toward Space Careers program?

My interest is deeply rooted in my fascination with the aviation industry, which started when I was about 16 as a quickly passing interest and turned into a hobby. The rise of AI in space exploration ,  particularly in the development of autonomous rovers and satellites incorporated with AI algorithms to navigate and collect data in space, is exciting to me. I am particularly drawn to the Leading Women Toward Space Careers program because of the mentorship opportunity it offers, which I believe, would provide valuable knowledge and insights and open new perspectives. It would not only enhance my technical understanding but also offer a chance to improve my interpersonal skills. I believe building relationships with these professionals and peers could open doors to future opportunities in the space and aviation fields.

What area would you like to work in after graduation? (What career path, interests, opportunities, etc., would you like to accomplish? What field are you interested in?)

After graduating, I would like to work in the aviation industry in a data-oriented role that fosters continuous learning. I am interested in positions that allow me to leverage data analysis and computational methods to improve aviation systems and technologies. Additionally, I plan to go to graduate school to further continue my studies.
